CASE STUDY — AI SEARCH VISIBILITY
We ran Seovara's AI Visibility check on Seovara. It wasn't mentioned.
Before telling clients to check whether AI assistants recommend them, we ran the check on our own product, Seovara. This case study publishes the results as they came back, including the parts that don't flatter us. It follows our standard methodology, the same framework used for every project.
Objective
Find out whether an AI assistant mentions Seovara when someone asks a question we would want Seovara to be the answer to, and use the data to decide where to focus.
Strategy
We ran three realistic prompts against seovara.com, each representing a different situation a real person might be in:
- A broad question: the best SEO software for freelancers and agencies
- A specific problem: tools to track whether ChatGPT mentions my business
- A category question: the best AI visibility tools for SEO agencies
Seovara's AI Visibility feature uses OpenAI's API with web search. It reports whether the brand was mentioned and which sources were cited. It does not invent a ranking, because the data to support one does not exist.
Budget
Three checks run inside Seovara's own dashboard. No ad spend, no paid placement and no outside tools were involved.
Execution
Work handled directly by Alade Web & SEO:
- Added the three prompts to the seovara.com site entry in the dashboard
- Ran one check for each prompt
- Read each full AI response and its list of cited sources
- Recorded whether Seovara was mentioned and what the sources showed
Results
Results are taken from the three checks run in Seovara's AI Visibility feature on 9 October 2026.
| Prompt | Mentioned? | What we saw |
|---|---|---|
| Best SEO software for freelancers and agencies | No | A crowded field led by Semrush, Ahrefs and SE Ranking. Seovara's G2 listing, submitted only hours earlier, already appeared as a cited source. |
| Tools to track if ChatGPT mentions my business | No | No dedicated tool was named. The assistant described a do-it-yourself workaround that matches what Seovara automates. |
| Best AI visibility tools for SEO agencies | No | A category already served by well-funded products, each with its own AI visibility checker. |
Seovara was not mentioned in any of the three answers. This test did not measure signups, traffic or revenue, and none are claimed here.
What We Learned
Reading the data conservatively:
- The head-on category is crowded. For broad "best tool" questions, established platforms dominate the answers, so competing there first is an uphill fight.
- The narrow question is open. On the second prompt the assistant recommended no tool and described a manual process instead. A clear, practical guide for smaller agencies on checking this themselves has little competition in that answer.
- New listings can appear as sources quickly. A G2 page submitted the same day was already being cited, so third-party pages about a product can matter before the product's own site does.
- The test exposed a real bug. One dashboard page rendered empty even though prompts existed, because a database column it asked for had never been created and the page did not surface the error. The column was added. The lesson: check for query errors instead of letting a page quietly render empty.
- We refused to invent a ranking. A "#1 recommendation" label was proposed and declined, because the underlying data contains no ranking.
What this test does not tell us: how often the answers change, how other AI assistants respond, or whether any of this affects signups. Three prompts is a small sample, AI answers vary between runs, and Seovara currently uses OpenAI's API only, so nothing is claimed for other assistants.
Next Recommendation
Reasonable next steps based on one small test:
- Repeat on a schedule: re-run the same prompts regularly and keep the history, so there is a trend instead of one snapshot
- Target the open question: publish content explaining how a freelancer or small agency can check whether AI assistants recommend their clients
- Build accurate third-party pages: genuine listings that describe the product correctly were the sources that appeared
- Reviews only when real: add independent customer reviews once real customers have given them
None of these outcomes have been measured or reported. They are offered as next steps, not guaranteed results.
